Magni's hardware documentation - multiple revisions (SCH, pinouts)

Hello,

My name is Denis and I work at 33Robotics, a start-up in the segment of Robotics.

I’m a new employee at the company and I’m struggling with the Hardware documentation of Ubiquity Robotics’s Magni and its boards.

We have the following material list from Ubiquity Robotics:

1x Aluminum chassis

1x Sonar sensor board

1x Single upward facing camera

1x Power board (the one the the power switch, the emergency stop and the connector)

1x Charger

4x Motor Control Boards

Through the silk screen on the board i can confirm that we have these revisions:

1x Rev. 8

3x Rev. 5

9x 200W hub motors - differential drive

I found on the website just one Hardware related documentation: The “Magni - Master Control Board Pinout.pdf” but this document doesn’t references any board revision.

And the connections and connectors pointed on the document doesn’t represents what I could verify in my boards (revs. 5).

It has been told to me that some boards are malfunctioning, or even damaged… I need a hardware documentation to perform some basic troubleshooting and electric verifications.

It would be perfect if you provide to me ASAP the following:

- Schematics

- Pinouts (of my material list)

- Remarks, notes or instruction of voltage / current limitations and constraints of the circuits and connections.

Regards.

anyone? it is important to me

Noticed this was missed for a long time. Sorry this has been frustrating to you I am sure.

The board revision as of recent version 5.1 is in large silkscreen and easy to see.
Prior to that our first production release was version 4.9 and we then had 5.0.

for all boards the version is in the top copper layer on the far left very low corner of the board as you look at the front of a Magni. There was no version 8. I think when you say version 5 you mean 5.0.

A version 5.0 or 5.1 board can be recognized by the row of status leds is horizontal. Rev 4.9 boards had vertical row of leds but they were easily broken from removal of the small board with the power switchs on it.

Rev 5.1 as mentioned will have medium sized white silkscreen ‘Rev 5.1’ located just below large topside Ubiquity Robotics silkscreen. Future revs will all have the readable silkscreen near that area for ease of reading.

We have been actively updating documents on the https://learn.ubiquityrobotics.com/ site with updated pictures on the Camera Installation - Magni Documentation page for some key connectors. Also a great many more GPIO lines are discussed here https://learn.ubiquityrobotics.com/doing_more/GPIO_lines.html

Recently many updates to the learn pages and this will continue.
Not very long ago we added some verification ‘high level’ notes on this new page
https://learn.ubiquityrobotics.com/verification

We do not distribute schematics as a practice but we do want to fully show pinouts and will continue to expand on that level of documentation.

Now uploading a couple connector pictures that have not made it directly to the learn pages yet that apply to documenting of pinouts.

Also and perhaps to end this thread in a real ‘answer’ I post the link to our document that discusses the connectors as well as the power supply ratings. This was posted for quite some time but on a slightly out of the way paragraph on a Learn page.

The detailed description of connectors is here: https://learn.ubiquityrobotics.com/Magni_MCB_pinout.pdf

On the first page of our ‘learn.ubiquityrobotics.com’ at the bottom was a poor title of ’ Diagnostics, Pinouts and Other Matters’ and this then pointed to https://learn.ubiquityrobotics.com/diagnostics where in the middle title of ’ Motor Controller Board Pinouts’ then offered a link to above pdf.

I will work to make this more obvious where the pinouts are and not bury this in a diagnostic page on Learn.
